Our Story

Tea Garden restaurant originated in Malaysia, where it was established in 2005 in Johor Bahru, ​serving authentic and genuine Malaysian cuisine.

It is founded by Mr Tan Chek Kiang with his wife, Madam Chua Kim Heok. Our founder, Mr Tan Chek Kiang has almost 40 years of experience in Food & Beverage business. He has acculmulated invaluable experiences from working at Chinese seafood restaurant, traditional coffee shops, and now helms the reins at the company.

Introduction

Our Executive Chef, Mr Yap Teck Peng has close to 50 years of experience in Food & Beverage industry of Malaysia, Singapore, Switzerland, and New Zealand. Both Mr Tan and Mr Yap believe that serving fresh, quality and authentic Malaysian delicacies comes from heart to ensure that our customer enjoy the best taste of Malaysia.

Our Dim Sum Chef, Master Wong has 50 years of robust experience in making dim sum in Hong Kong and Beijing. Each dim sum dish in Tea Garden is handcrafted by Master Wong and his team with the utmost care and attention to detail to fully bring out the delicate taste that warms your heart.

Managed by a team of passionate individuals devoted to preserving and promoting Malaysian Local Cuisine, our chain of restaurants have since expanded locally as well as globally across Australia; bringing delicious and quality cuisine for the enjoyment of our customers.

In line with our commitment to serve quality food of genuine ingredient, ​Tea Garden has captured the stomach and the heart of Malaysian. ​

With its unique blend of authentic homemade recipes and ​warm Malaysian hospitality, Tea Garden was brought to birth in 2005 to introduce Malaysian cuisine to international including Australia as well. ​

There are currently 23 outlets located in Johor, 3 in Selangor, 2 in Kuala Lumpur, whereby 2 outlets are in Perth, Australia. ​

Tea Garden has been certified HALAL by Jakim In Malaysia in 2023 as quality assurance to all Malaysian, and we are ambitioned to spread the richness of Malaysian unique culture and heritage to the world.
